市が説明をするまでは、アマリロ未確認物体（UAO）と呼ばれている。
アマリロ市の公園・レクリエーション部長「この実体がアマリロ動物園の外にあったことに注目することが重要です。動物園に入ろうとした形跡はありませんでした。動物や個人に危害が加えられたことはありません。犯罪行為や破壊行為の兆候はありませんでした。確かに奇妙で興味深い画像です」
